Bozlu Art Project is hosting photographer Murat Germen for the exhibition “Tracing Sagalassos” organized for the benefit of the ancient city of Sagalassos between July 19 – September 10, 2022. Germen’s exhibition is a continuation of the group exhibition “For Sagalassos”, organized by Bozlu Art Project in 2019, which was held to grow the public recognition of Sagalassos and create financial resources for further archaeological excavations. Sagalassos is one of the best-preserved ancient cities in the Mediterranean and is on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List.

This project, realized thanks to the cooperation of Bozlu Art Project and Sagalassos Foundation, introduces the new Sagalassos-inspired works of Murat Germen, who visited the ancient city. With this exhibition, in which the city planner, academician, and artist Murat Germen, who continues his works with a focus on the city, architecture, and environment, reinterprets Sagalassos after the exhibition in 2019, aspires to make the audience contemplate the concepts of time, space, human and architecture, and in the meanwhile, by bringing together archaeology and contemporary art, offers an interdisciplinary perspective.

The exhibition entitled “For Sagalassos”, organized by Bozlu Art Project as a social responsibility project in 2019, was held with the participation of Murat Germen, Selma Gürbüz, Kazım Karakaya, Murat Morova, Seyhun Topuz, Utku Varlık, and Semih Zeki, and the income of the exhibition was transferred to the archaeological excavations that were taking place in the ancient city of Sagalassos. Murat Germen’s exhibition “Tracing Sagalassos”, which is a continuation of this project, and can be viewed at Bozlu Art Project Mongeri Building between July 19 – September 10, 2022.

All income from the sales of the exhibition organized within the scope of the project realized in cooperation with the Sagalassos Foundation, Bozlu Art Project and Murat Germen, will be transferred to the bank account of the Sagalassos Excavation Department in order to support the archaeological excavation projects approved by the Sagalassos Ancient City.
